Senior pictures are one of the few photo sessions that are all about one person, at one moment, right before everything changes. If you're a senior (or the parent of one) in Winston-Salem, High Point or Kernersville, here's everything you need to know to plan a session you'll love, from when to book to what to bring.
A good rule of thumb is to book a few months before you want your photos in hand. That gives you time to plan outfits, add hair and makeup if you'd like, and have your images ready for graduation announcements, yearbook deadlines and senior night. Athletes should also plan around their season so the session doesn't land on a game weekend. Now booking the Class of 2027.
Every session follows the same simple process, so you always know what's next:
Pick two or three outfits that feel like you, lay them out the day before and make sure they're clean and wrinkle-free. Pair solids with a print, bring matching shoes for each look and add one piece that shows your personality. For more ideas, read my guides on the Styled Shots blog: What to Wear for Senior Pictures for Girls and What to Wear for Senior Pictures for Boys.
I'm a sports photographer first. I've photographed athletes from youth travel teams to MLB players like Chase Burns, Josh Hammond and Nigel Belgrave, and I bring that same eye to senior athletes. Bring your jersey, your gear and your number. Senior athlete portraits work beautifully for recruiting profiles, commitment announcements and senior night, and you can add a custom 2x3 vinyl banner with your name, number, school and sport for $55.
Before photography, I spent 10 years as a professionally trained hair and makeup artist. That training is why my seniors walk in relaxed and walk out camera-ready. Whether or not you add professional hair and makeup, I guide you on the details, from flyaways to makeup that looks natural on camera, so you can focus on having fun.
Styled Shots photographs seniors from Winston-Salem, High Point, Kernersville, Wallburg and across the Triad. Cash, check and credit/debit cards are accepted, and payment plans are available.
